The City I carry

My Techniques & Materials

I document the chaotic, visceral beauty of urban environments — tangled wires, weathered walls, layered textures, and fragmented cityscapes — and transform these visual observations into layered narratives through digital printing, adda work, laser cutting, and mixed media. My materials, including jute, canvas, mesh, thread, and found urban remnants, reflect the raw, tactile, and tangled essence of metropolitan life, each chosen for its physical texture and symbolic weight. Through a process of deconstruction and reassembly, I reinterpret overlooked details and everyday elements, layering them to mirror the complexity, resilience, and disordered rhythm of the city itself. My compositions evoke memory, identity, and spatial disorientation, offering viewers dense, abstracted landscapes that invite them to navigate, pause, and uncover the hidden stories embedded within the urban fabric.

Inspired by the dense, chaotic streets of Lahore’s Walled City and my own experiences of emotional exhaustion, my work draws from the disorder of urban infrastructure as both subject and metaphor. The tangled wires, crumbling facades, and layered surfaces of the city mirror the mental clutter and turbulence I’ve navigated internally. In documenting and reimagining these urban fragments, I turn external chaos into personal expression, using the visual language of the city to process, reflect, and articulate my own states of mind..

My work seeks to reveal the unexpected beauty within urban chaos, connecting the tangled cityscapes we inhabit to the complexities of human emotion. By reframing the disorder of everyday streets — the wires, walls, and layered textures — as powerful metaphors for survival, identity, and inner struggle, I aim to transform overlooked fragments of the city into meaningful art that speaks to resilience, memory, and the hidden narratives woven through both place and self..
